betting tips
1. General rules
Tipster Picks team will invite you, as an amateur tipster or as a professional handicapper, to join us in monitoring your sports picks. The rules, regulations, and guidelines for the Tipster Picks are not biased in any way and they are set up in such a way as to benefit all players equally. Our services are free of charge. And it doesn’t matter if you are an amateur tipster or a professional one. All tipsters are not allowed to open more than one account at tipsterpicks.com
2. Amateur tipsters
In Cambridge Dictionary we find that “Tipster” is a person who gives information to people, usually in exchange for money, especially about the likely winner of a race or competition. In our website, an amateur tipster (or an amateur handicapper) is an adult person who joins us and makes sports picks. Everybody from any country who obeys TOS and Rules can join our website and become an amateur tipster. For this, you have to create an account and validate it from your email. As an amateur tipster you cannot choose as your nickname any of existing website’s URL.
3. Professional handicappers
In our website, a professional handicapper (or a professional tipster) is an amateur tipster which is upgraded by us to become a professional one. For this upgrade we request that he/she owns, (or takes part from) a dedicated website which offers sports picks for their clients, in exchange of money or for free. TipsterPicks.com does not request that the picks submitted at our site by a professional handicapper to be exactly the same picks submitted to their clients. The choice belongs to the professional handicapper. As a professional tipster you can choose as your nickname the name of your own website’s URL.
4. Live odds
Our real-time odds are refreshed every 5 minutes and are identical with the ones provided by www.bwin.com, so you’ll have a big range for yours picks selections, over 8000 daily selections from all sports (money line, point spread, Asian handicap, over, under etc.). The well done structure, the good systematization and the huge diversity of sporting offer bets provided by www.bwin.com determined us to pick out this real sportsbook as a point of reference to our site. TipsterPicks.com will use European (decimal) odds.
5. Stakes and units
All tipsters (amateurs or professionals) will be tracked at Tipster Picks based on units only (not on real money). The default stake is set to 10 units for a "regular play". Every month, each tipster (amateur or professional) will have the opportunity to put 8 “top plays” as follows:
- one stake of 100 units;
- two stakes of 50 units each;
- five stakes of 20 units each;
One stake is set for one virtual bet ticket.
6. Bet ticket & action
Any bet ticket could contain one straight (single) bet or one parlay bet. A parlay bet may have maximum 9 selections from the entire betting offers, but the selections must be from different sport events. Any amateur tipster has the opportunity to fill in one virtual bet ticket each day but not more than one bet ticket each day, so pay attention and pick the best one. Any day begins at 00:00 CET time and ends at 24:00 CET time. Any professional tipster has the opportunity to fill in ten virtual tickets bet each day. No pick selection will be accepted after the event starts. It doesn’t matter if you are an amateur tipster or a professional one; you are not forced to place a bet ticket each day. You can place bet ticket(s) any day you want to.
7. The profit calculation
"Won" means that your sports pick event is validated as winner. “Won” = “W”.
"Lost" means that your sports pick event is validated as lost. “Lost” = “L”.
"Tie" means that your sports pick event has been canceled, suspended or abandoned, or the event cannot be validated as won or lost (usually when you choose to place the bet ticket on a regular handicap (non-asian) and there were only two possible choices for this event). If an event is postponed or interrupted and scheduled for a replay within the next 5 following days (untill 24:00 CET) your pick will be taken into consideration, otherwise it will be considered a tie. “Tie” = “T”. An event result is considered a "Tie" if we can not find an official final result of the respective event in 5 days after the event ended. Despite that, we accept changing the event result from "Tie" to "Won" or "Lost" if someone provides us an official result link for the respective event.
If you place a single bet pick on a bet ticket, and your ticket is a "Won", your profit will be:
P = S*(odd-1)
Where:
P = profit,
odd = the odd of the sports event,
S = stake, units placed on the bet ticket event.
If you place a single bet pick on a bet ticket, and your ticket is a "Lost", your profit will be:
P = -S
If you place a single bet pick on a bet ticket, and your ticket is a "Tie", your profit will be:
P = 0
If you place a parlay bet ticket (a combo bet ticket), your bet ticket is a "Won" when all individual sport pick events are "Won", or at least "Tie". In this case the profit of your bet ticket will be:
P = +S*{Product{[odd(i)]/[a(i)]} - 1}
Where:
P = total profit of parlay bet ticket.
S = the stake placed on the bet ticket,
Product{[odd(i)]/[a(i)]} = {[odd(1)]/[a(1)]}*{[odd(1)]/[a(1)]}* ...*{[odd(i)]/[a(i)]},
i = {1, 2,..., max 9} represents the # of the individual “i” event,
[a(i)] = [odd(i)], when the individual "i" event is a "Tie",
[a(i)] = 1, when the individual "i" event is a "Won",
If you place a parlay bet ticket (a combo bet ticket), your bet ticket is a "Lost" when at least one individual sport pick event is "Lost".
In this case the profit of your bet ticket will be:
P = -S
If you place a parlay bet ticket (a combo bet ticket), your bet ticket is a "Tie" when all individual sport pick events are "Tie".
In this case the profit of your bet ticket will be:
P = 0
If a parlay bet ticket is "Won", for a real ranking of handicappers by specific sports event, we figured out a formula for the individual profit of an equivalent event:
p(j) = +{[b(j)]*[odd(j)]*P}/{Sum{[c(i)]*[odd(i)]}}
Where:
p(j) = the equivalent profit for the "j" event, of a "Won" parlay bet ticket,
j = {1, 2,..., max 9} represents the # of the individual “j” event,
[b(j)] = 0, when the individual "j" event is a "Tie",
[b(j)] = 1, when the individual "j" event is a "Won",
odd(j)= the odd of the individual "j" pick event,
P = total profit of parlay bet ticket, which is calculated above,
Sum{[c(i)]*[odd(i)]} = {[c(1)*odd(1)]+[c(2)*odd(2)]+ ... +[c(i)*odd(i)]},
i = {1, 2,..., max 9} represents the # of picks from a parlay bet ticket,
[c(i)] = 0, when the individual "i" pick event is a "Tie",
[c(i)] = 1, when the individual "i" pick event is a "Won".
This formula is based on the consideration that on a higher individual odd you'll have a higher profit equivalent, and for a lower individual odd you'll have a lower profit equivalent.
If a parlay bet ticket is "Lost", for a real ranking of handicappers by specific sports event, we figured out a formula for the individual profit of an equivalent event:
p(j) = -{[d(j)]*S}/{[odd(j)]*{Sum{[e(i)]/[odd(i)]}}}
Where:
p(j) = the equivalent profit for the "j" event, of a "Lost" parlay bet ticket,
j = {1, 2,..., max 9} represents the # of the individual “j” event,
i = {1, 2,..., max 9} represents the # of picks from a parlay bet ticket,
[d(j)] = 0, when the individual "j" event is a "Tie" or “Won”
[d(j)] = 1, when the individual "j" event is a "Lost",
odd(j) = the odd of the "j" pick event,
S = the stake placed on the bet ticket,
Sum{[e(i)]/[odd(i)]} = {[e(1)]/[odd(1)]}+{[e(2)]/[odd(2)]}+ ... +{[e(i)]/[odd(i)]},
[e(i)] = 0, when the individual "i" pick event is a "Tie" or “Won”,
[e(i)] = 1, when the individual "i" pick event is a "Lost".
This formula is based on the consideration that on a higher individual odd you'll have a lower loss equivalent, and for a lower individual odd you'll have a higher loss equivalent.
If a parlay bet ticket is "Tie", for a real ranking of handicappers by specific sports event, the individual profit of an equivalent event will be:
p(j) = 0
Where:
p(j) = the equivalent profit for the "j" event, of a "Tie" parlay bet ticket,
j = {1, 2,..., max 9} represents the # of the individual “j” event.
8. Rankings
As a visitor of our site, or a registered one, you'll find the tipsters' ranking based on the units' profit. Further more you'll be able to view the tipsters' rankings ordered by a lot of conditions: time period, kind of tipster (amateur, professional), kind of sports, region or league.
The similar ranking can be made for:
- return of investments (ROI); ROI(%) = [(total profit)/(total stake)]
- percentage of winnings (W/L%);
- numbers of winnings (W);
- numbers of losses (L);
- numbers of ties (T);
You can also view the tipsters’ ranking according to all bet tickets or just according to won tickets (if you select a specific sport).
The classification databases will be updated as soon as the final results are validated and posted on our site.
9. Moving odds (pointspreads/moneylines)
Once a bet ticket is submitted to tipsterpicks.com, it cannot be changed and/or deleted under any circumstances so please be very careful when making your selections. Tipster Picks odds are available all day and are updated every 5 minutes. Please be advised that our lines change on a regular basis. For example, you may be tempted to jump on a favorite in NFL at (-2.5) in the morning, which is perfectly fine, but remember you are locked into that line. If the line changes a few hours later to (-1.0), you are still locked into the line (-2.5) that you received at the time of your submission.
10. Timing issues
All amateur tipsters’ picks will be available to the public immediately after the ticket submission. All professional handicappers picks might be available to the public 15 minutes after the game starts (if they choose so), unless they choose to offer their picks as a “comp play” for free to the public. These selections can be done every time a professional tipster submits the bet ticket(s). Comp plays are available to the public before the game starts at the actual time the professional handicapper releases them in real time.
11. Password
Each handicapper agrees to take appropriate measures in order to protect his/her password. It is in the best interest of the member to guard his/her password and account ID from any unauthorized usage. Tipster Picks will not be held responsible for any unauthorized use of password and should a handicapper lose or feel like there is unauthorized use of his/her password he should contact our site immediately.
